The passing of J.J. Cale not long ago reminded me of a story I read years ago (probably in Rolling Stone).
JJ was driving home from a local Tulsa gig when he first heard his song, After Midnight, performed by Clapton / Derek and the Dominos, coming over his car radio. He just knew it would be a hit, so the next day he went out and bought himself a brand new Chevrolet.
