At an arena rock concert in the mid-1970s,
the stranger in the next seat turned to me after the set by headliner Ten Years After;
he said, and I quote verbatim,
"If they had Hendrix,
and the drummer from Three Dog Night,
they could take Grand Funk!"
I couldn't argue with that.
